Office Team
Geoff Eaton - Executive Director, Founder
Geoff is a two-time cancer survivor and the founder and Executive Director of Young Adult Cancer Canada. Responsible for the strategic direction of the organization, Geoff has first hand experience attending support groups with people who are closer in age to his grandparents than to him. As a result, he recognizes that Young Adult Cancer Canada's vision is important and essential for young adults dealing with cancer.
Geoff also serves on the Board of Directors of the Cancer Advocacy Coalition of Canada and on the Atlantic Regional Liaison Committee of Canadian Blood Services. He spends personal time riding his motorcycle with his wife, Karen, staying healthy with yoga, weights and hockey, and chasing that sometimes elusive state of “balance”.
Tara O'Brien - Director of Development
Tara is a graduate of Memorial University's Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Business Administration programs and has been employed at Young Adult Cancer Canada since August 2005. Tara manages the organization's community events, volunteers and personal and corporate donors.
Tara has been a supporter for a number of family members and friends.
Her interests include reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Lesley Kean - Program Coordinator
Lesley is a graduate of Memorial University's Bachelor of Commerce (Co-operative) program. She has been employed at Young Adult Cancer Canada since January 2007 as Program Coordinator and manages the delivery of the organizations key programs: Retreat Yourself, Survivor Conference, the RealTime Cancer Community and the public education program.
Like Tara, Lesley has been a supporter for a number of family members and friends.
Lesley is very active, she enjoys staying fit and participating in sports. She also enjoys travelling (living in both Belgium and Scotland for several months), painting, drawing and spending time with family and friends.
Beth Cranston – Communications Coordinator
Beth is a graduate of Mount Allison University’s Bachelor of Arts and Memorial University’s Performance and Communications Media programs.
Beth has been employed with Young Adult Cancer Canada since May of 2007 and provides administrative support to the office team. She also coordinates The Real Times, the mail-out of the Annual Report, and is working on the delivery of We Get It – A Survivor Video, due for release in the Fall of 2008.
While not working, Beth sings in a number of choirs and volunteers at Rogers Television. She also enjoys traveling, puzzles, working with her hands, and being outdoors.
Beth is proud to be working with such a stellar office team and for such a great cause.
