Meghan Drover (temporarily on educational leave)
Meghan is a graduate of Memorial University's Bachelor of Commerce program. She was a supporter for her dad, who has been in remission since 1999. She has been involved with Young Adult Cancer Canada for several years, helping organize Young Adult Cancer Canada Climbs in St. John's and Ireland.
Meghan's interests include fitness, traveling, dancing, singing, rowing, musical theatre and public speaking.
Duncan de Young
Duncan is a Commerce/Arts student at Memorial University. He has been involved with Young Adult Cancer Canada since the beginning, when the school challenge program was launched at his high school.
Duncan has been both a volunteer and an employee of Young Adult Cancer Canda and he spearheaded the development of the RealTime Cancer Community. Duncan has a great record of community involvement and enjoys photography, technology and traveling.
Cassidy Quinton
Cassidy is currently attending grade 12 at Gonzaga High School. Determined to start a chapter at her school geared towards her age group in which young adults could really relate with, Cassidy spearheaded and organized the Young Adult Cancer Canada Climb at Gonzaga High School.
As a supporter for her mother who was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer, Cassidy stated, "Young Adult Cancer Canada was there to help support me and my family and, for that, I am truly thankful".
Justin Dunphy
Justin is currently attending grade 12 at Holy Heart of Mary High School. He and Cassidy work closely to create awareness of Young Adult Cancer Canada and, often, to coordinate Young Adult Cancer Canada events.
Justin began volunteering with Young Adult Cancer Canada when he organized the Climb at Holy Heart in 2005. He enjoys being a part of Young Adult Cancer Canada because he believes that it is a great organization that helps many people.
Amanda Cranford
Amanda Cranford is a grade 12 student at O'Donel High in Mount Pearl. She has volunteered with Young Adult Cancer Canada since 2006, serving on both the event planning committee, and the young adult advisory board. As an active member of her school and community, Amanda uses this opportunity to create awareness and fundraise for Young Adult Cancer Canada. She organized the "Shave For The Brave" for O'Donel in 2006 which turned out to be a huge success!
Amanda is currently vice president of student council and coordinator of the "Patriot Mentors." She loves cheerleading, choir, figure skating, and being involved in her community.
"I love the idea of young adults helping young adults deal with such a challenge!"
Laura Pittman
Laura is a first year Engineering student at Memorial University. She loves volunteering in her community and has been involved with Young Adult Cancer Canada since 2006 helping organize the Climb and "Shave for the Brave" at Gonzaga High. She has participated in eight musical productions and currently studies piano and dance. Her favorite sports include volleyball, basketball, soccer and rowing. Laura is a avid supporter of Young Adult Cancer Canada initiatives and knows how powerful a little extra support can be.
Kris Barrett
Kris is a graduate of Memorial University's Bachelor of Engineering program (Ocean and Naval Architecture) and has been working for Petro-Canada in St. John's since 2002. He is a Testicular Cancer Survivor and has been in remission since September 2006. He has been involved with Young Adult Cancer Canada since the Climb in 2006 and joined the Young Adult Board in 2007.
Kris was married in August 2005 to Mary Margaret Murphy and in November 2007 became the proud father of a baby girl, Nyah Hope.
Kris' interests include playing hockey, watching football and playing video games.
Kristina Roche
Kristina is a first year student at Memorial University. She became involved with Young Adult Cancer Canada in 2007 while organizing the Shave for the Brave at Holy Trinity High School.
Kristina enjoys sports and volunteering within the community and at the Health Science Center.
Renee Bennett
Renee is a two time Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma survivor. 2007 had a lot in store for her; she relapsed in Feb, had chemo treatments, went to Retreat Yourself, participated in the Young Adult Cancer Canada Climb and attended the Survivor Conference. Renee then became apart of Young Adult Cancer Canada's Young Adult Board in November. To finish the year she received FANTASTIC test results to bring her into 2008! Her cancer experience is leading her upon a path in which she is excited to Live, Love & Laugh.
Renee has been married to an amazing man, Tony, for 9 and a half years and they have 2 wonderful children Grace and Ryan.
Renee enjoys playing basketball, going to the gym, cooking and her newest hobby is juicing.....mmm mmm good!!
